Grandparents say...
The 2012 is the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. We students of class II CDE we have dedicated a part of our school activities to discover how they lived at the days of our grandfathers. This path began with the analysis and graphical representation of a popular song by Francesco Guccini "The old and the child." Then we asked to interview our grandparents, we have made virtual visits to museums and historical homes and in the end we re-lived firsthand the lifestyles of our ancestors through the educational journey to Montecorvino Pugliano

The Carnation Revolution – 25th April 1974 in Portugal

25th April is a holiday in Portugal, as in 1974 this was a very important day in the history of Portugal because there was a revolution that brought the government down in order to implant democracy. This revolution was led by military forces and it was received with great joy in the streets, because people had long hoped for freedom. So, this holiday is called “Freedom Day”. Carnations are seen in Portugal as a symbol of freedom because on this day a florist offered the soldiers red carnations. Other aspects are that radio was a very important media to organize and set up this revolution and that in Lisbon one of the military bulldozer stopped at a red light. April 25th was a turning point in Portugal as it brought many changes in the life of the Portuguese people, that’s why this revolution day will never be forgotten.
