Table tennis by Bartek

Do you play table tennis? In Poland it is quite popular sport. At our school there are some students who play table tennis in a local table tennis club in Dzierżoniów. One of them is Bartek. He has been playing table tennis for some years and he has already won some medals. He has made a film about his favourite table tennis players and about himself.

The Ape Maia is 100 years old.

In 2012 the Ape Maia is 100 years old.
The Ape Maia is a cartoon loosely based on the novel by German author Waldemar Bonsels. 'The Life of the Bee Maia and the people of the sky'. Was transformed into a cartoon by Josef Goehlen, presenter of the TV guys in the ZDF in 1973, and Maia Bee reader. The book recounts the adventures of the Bee Maia who leaves her hive to discover the world. Meet friends, as Willi, and Flip. The story is about "the feeling of loneliness, the feeling of not finding anyone that understands us. Talk of the things that brings life, joy, sadness, luck and death "
The Ape Maia cartoon was produced in Japan and arrived in Italy in '79 initially Rai1 with drawings by Marty Murphy and Katia Swiss's song "Fly away into the Ape Maia." The cartoon did fall in love the public, becoming a classic for generations of children. It continues to be one of the most beloved cartoon as children and adults.

Mafalda turns 50 years

Today Mafalda, a popular cartoon character, turns 50 years old. Joaquín Salvador Lavado, alias Quino, the fact  created this character on 15 March 1962. Mafalda is a naughty little girl, loves the Beatles, when he grows up want to make the interpreter at the UN to avoid war and has a hearty dislike of Fidel Castro.
Mafalda quickly arrived from South America to Europe. In Italy his first book, “Mafalda la contestataria” , was published in 1969.

The history is about a mammoth,Many;a saber-toothed tiger,Diego;and lazy,Siz,toghether lead to a baby with her parents,but the Diegos´s herd want eating the baby.At the end the leader dies and the baby goes back with her parents.

Lego animation

One of my students has a very interesting hobby - making lego animation films. They are just great. He makes them perfetly (in my opinion). Maybe some of your students make similar films. Let us know. They could exchange their ideas and techniques.

A spider in our school

Today a spider came to visit us in our school. He was leaning on a window sill of our corridor. Asking for explanations to the teacher told us that this is the typical spiderdancer, named for the movements it performs when it is disturbed.The spider is an arthropod that belongs to arachnids. The body is composed of two parts, joined by a thin pedicle: the front, said cephalothorax, is provided with six pairs of appendages, while the latter is always free of limbs and contains glands serigene from which protrudes a secretion of liquid which to 'air it solidifies, forming a strong thread, from which originates the web. It is carnivorous and predatory, feeding on any insects that inadvertently gets caught in its web.The spider dancer usually does not cause any harm to people. Feeding on insects that regularly enter the homes (flies, mosquitoes, etc..), We can consider a discrete insecticide.

Lovejoy, the star of Christmas

Who has spent Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere could see, as tradition dictates, a luminous trail across the sky before dawn. A true miracle of nature! The Comet Lovejoy, able not only to resist a close encounter with the Sun but capable of giving many of us, in this Christmas season,  spectacular images. The comet belongs to the so-called Plain of Kreutz comets probably originate from a single large comet.
Lovejoy has a size of about 200 meters, then equal to two football fields, and is unusually large compared to the average size of these objects. It has been the first comet of this type have been observed from Earth for many days near  the sun.
  It has been discovered last November 27 by Australian Terry Lovejoy.

A hedgehog in our classroom

Today one of our classmates brought to school a hedgehog in a box. All of us were surprised to see him. It was the first time many of us saw a hedgehog.
 Driven by curiosity, we looked for information on Wikipedia. We discovered that the hedgehog is a mammal that belongs to the family of Erinaceidae.
 It has Archaic morphological characteristics (such as the dental formula and the conformation of the brain) that is common to the first mammals appeared on Earth. Over millions of years has only change the covering of spines.

My favourite TV SHOW: ''Must be the music''

It's a pop music show. It's on TV every Sunday night at 8.00 p.m. I like it, because It's very funny, interesting and exciting. Young and old people sing songs.
Kora Jackowska, Elżbieta Zapendowska, Adam Sztaba and Wojciech ''Łozo'' Łozowski are the judges. If they like somebody, they say ''YES''. If they don't like - they say ''NO''. We can vote for our favourite singer, too. I like music shows very much.

OCEANIC POSIDONIA FOUND IN FORMENTERA, THE LARGEST LIVING BEING

It is an underwater macroplant  with several extensions that come from the same seed. It was found in Formentera and has over a hundred thousand years old.



A scientific study has determined the existence in Formentera, Spain, the living being that could be the largest in the world, a Posidonia oceanica eight kilometers long, the various plants from the same seed and same genetic individual.

This is a study by Carlos Duarte, the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Study, Sophie Arnaud, University of Algarve, and Deudero Health, University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).

The discovery was made ​​under the project "Conservation of seagrass meadows." Researchers say that grasslands are disappearing at a rate of one to two percent per year. What are seagrasses? They grow up to forty feet deep at sea and are characterized by the longest living plants on the planet, so some have more than one hundred thousand years old, an aspect that makes it difficult to regenerate because it requires time to grow.

The crib
