Easter traditions in Poland

On Palm Sunday Polish catholic people go to church with colourful palms. On Thursday before Easter Sunday at church Paschal Triduum starts and a lot of people go to church then. On Friday evening in churches appears a decoration with Jesus Christ tomb.

On Good Saturday we make Easter baskets full of food (bread, butter, salt, sausage or meat, Easter cake and eggs) and mainly children go to church, where priest is blessing the food in the baskets.

On Easter Sunday at 6 a.m. a ressurection mass takes place. In the morning families have Easter breakfast - the most important meal during Easter holiday. Easter Monday we call Wet Monday as according to our tradition boys pour water on girls. These days all young people - boys and girls pour water on each other and have fun. :) Pawel and Mikolaj made a photofilm about Polish Easter traditions.
